Short bets depend on luck, long bets depend on skill
In gambling to be profitable in the long term depends on skill, but to be profitable in the short term depends on luck.
Take playing Texas Hold'em as an example. Once in a poker game, I came across a first-class expert, both in terms of technology and mentality, and it was basically impossible to win him through a normal gambling game. After thinking about it, the long play is definitely lost anyway, that can only take a risky approach, and he bet on luck, so there may be a chance of winning. So, every time I opened my cards I ALL IN him. The other side is a master, very calm, he is waiting for the best card before he plays. After a few rounds, he got the flush AK and followed up my ALL IN. The end result was that the table came out small and I lost him out with my winning pair. This made me get up and stop playing with him, knowing in my heart that a long bet was definitely not his match.
This may just be a joke, see laugh. But in real life, the casino with Texas Hold'em is not exactly a first-class master? You can only win him through luck unless your skills are even higher than his.
